Staycation Sewing

The Pandemic has caused many of us to change our vacation plans into mini staycations.   But that doesn’t mean we can’t find ways to relax and enjoy ourselves.  And of course, making a few new outfits (shop for all the fabrics in this blog post here) will help set the mood for our staycation.  Let’s consider some ideas for a quick but relaxing weekend at home!

TGIF- Last day of Work/ Zoom Meetings
The last day of work before your staycation and a brightly printed top is jump-starting your happy place!  This Artistic Viscose Jersey Knit (Sold Out) (Misty Top) pairs well with the Sunshine Yellow Stretch Pique (Sold Out) as bermuda shorts (Jennifer City Shorts).

Saturday Morning-Quick Errands for Staycation Supplies
You’ll need to stock up on food and any other items you’ll want to have for your staycation.
A comfortable pull-on knit dress (The Goddess Gown) made with Roses in Grayscale Rayon Jersey Knit is great for this task.  Add bright accessories for a pop of color.  Don’t forget to wear your mask!

Saturday Afternoon- Gather your Family for an Outdoor Cookout
Fire up the BBQ grill and set up a game of croquet or badminton and enjoy each other’s company in a pair of Blue Jean Denim shorts (Pietra Pants and Shorts) and a Royal Blue/White Cross Dye Linen (Sold Out) blouse (Fast & Fabulous Trilogy Shift Dress, Tunic & Top).

Saturday Evening-A Fancy Stay-at-Home Dinner
Quarantining with your boo? Call your favorite restaurant and have Uber Eats to bring a delicious meal.  Set the table and add some candlelight.  Wear a beautiful jumpsuit (Simplicity  1115) or caftan (No. 107 TLC Caftan) in Red/Black Animal Print Silk Charmeuse (Sold Out) or Antique Brass/Black Animal Print Silk Charmeuse (Sold Out) and let the romance begin!

Sunday-Self-Care Day
After enjoying an online church service,  prepare a fabulous brunch and Facetime/Zoom with your girls to catch up and make sure everyone is ok.  Keeping in touch is good for our mental health!   Stay comfy in Confetti Cotton Knit (Sold Out) made into loungewear (Burda Style 07/19 #101) and Burda Style 12/19 #105).  Complete your day with an at-home mani/pedi and of course some sewing.

Monday- Explore the World
The worldwide web is our portal to destinations and information!  Museums are available to tour online or learn/practice a new sewing technique.  Download a good book on Kindle and let your imagination take you there while wearing a cute cotton shirtdress made with Pinwheel Cotton Floral (Simplicity 8830).

Remember to be good to yourself and take some time to rejuvenate.  A quick 3-day staycation can help to elevate the stress we are all experiencing.  Leave a comment below with other activities for staycations.  We can all use a few fresh ideas.  Stay safe, keep sewing, and encouraging one another!
