February’s MWP is being inspired by the colors in your spice rack. I love the rich warm colors of this 70’s inspired bohemian trend. I selected 3 fabrics Apricot Linen, Orange Tweedand Spicy Floral Silk CDC and put together 3 looks-“Work Week”, “Weekend Glam” and “On the Town”. However, you can easily mix and match any of the garments from one look to another look. All fabrics are from Sew Much Fabric.
Work Week
A structured tweed jacket (Burda 10/2014 #120) and a tailored shirt (Burda 4/2011 #105) read professional while the full skirt (Vogue 9031) adds a touch of femininity. Pair with nude pumps and gold hoop earrings. Mix it up: Switch the jacket and shirt to the apricot linen shell top, add some pearls and have a fun night on the town.
Weekend Glam
The tweed pants (McCalls 7098) and shell top (Vogue 9020) are great separates. Add the kimono (New Look 6072) as a fun substitute for a cardigan to keep away the indoor chill. Accessorize with flats and a chocolate brown tote. Mix it up: Wear the blouse from the work week look instead of the shell top and kimono.
On the Town
A sleeveless sheath dress (McCalls 6028) is classic but the orange tweed with the apricot piping make it a standout. Add a scarf/wrap using the spicy silk plus a pair of strappy sandals and gold accessories for a little sparkle. Mix it up: Remove the scarf and add the tweed jacket-you’re ready for your next meeting!
