Trending Fall 2013: Luxe Sweatshirts

Remember when tracksuits were all the rage (no I never wore one, thank you!) or what about all of those Juicy Couture sweatpants and sweatshirts (I have a friend who had the sweatsuit with JUICY plastered across her bottom. Yikes!)  It all seems so dated now. Well, Fall 2013 fashion is taking the sweat out of sweatshirt and bringing this gym staple to you, with a twist.  Smfabric.com has put together a few fabric combinations to help you with this trend. Luxe sweatshirts are trending and this comfy trend will kick your weekend glam up a few notches!

Many of the luxe sweatshirts are shown in two tones-one for the body and the other for the sleeves. Try the Animal Print Knit in grey then add Streaks for sleeve and/or for the ribbing. Make a skirt or a pair of pants with the Dark Grey/Metallic Silver Pinstripe Wool to finish the look. Here you have combined 3 of the hottest trends-animal print, grey and menswear.

The knit fabric Scallops is

perfect as a luxe sweatshirt.  The hint of metallic silver hits all the right notes. Pair this with the Wall Street Grey (or Black/White Pinstripe if you like mixing prints) and you have nailed a great look to meet your co-workers for dinner and drinks.

The holidays are just around the corner so for a festive weekend glam look, how about a luxe sweatshirt in Desert Sunset combined with Amber Knit for the ribbing.  Add the Red Cotton Stretch Sateen made into skinny leg pants with flats and you are ready to shop for holiday gifts.

And then there are the holiday parties. Sequins are perfect to add some sparkle.  Try the Black Sequin Stretch Velvet with the Black Rib Knit.  The Black Rib Knit is a true ribbing and has a slight sheen for that high end look. Make your skirt or pants out of the Black/White Pinstripe Wool. Remember, these are LUXURIOUS sweatshirts and the choice of fabric makes it all the more fabulous!

Pattern suggestions to make this trending look are Burda Style 11/2012 #128, McCalls 6614, or New Look 6230.  For patterns that don’t have the ribbing at the hem, you will need to add 2-3 inches to the hem width. You want the luxe sweatshirt to be slouchy not baggy!  Fall 2013 envisions pairing your new look with pants like Vogue 8909 and McCall 6707 or a skirt like Vogue 8928 and of course the classic pencil skirt. Add a pair of flats or booties and bam, you’ve got a weekend glam outfit!
