Pattern Review Burda Style 12/2010 #114

Sku# P4108

Yellow/Brown Animal Print Knit

60″

100% Polyester Knit

$18.00

Prewash: Washed on the perma press cycle cold water and dried on the perma press cycle.  There was no shirkage.

Notions:  1″ Elastic, Gutermann thread #799

Alterations: I cut a size 40 and had no alterations.  The finished length is 20-1/2″ so consider this before you cut your fabric.

Construction Details: This is a 1-1/2 dot, easy-to-sew pattern and can be made in a few hours.  The pattern calls for a “stretch waistband” which I assume is the same as the wide waistband elastic that was popular a few years ago.  Instead, I cut a waistband out of the fashion fabric.

1) Using 1″ elastic, cut fabric 3-1/4″ wide and the length of the waist.

2) Fold the waistband in half and sew onto skirt leaving a 1-1/2 opening.

3) Insert elastic and close opening.

4) Serge seam allowance.

I also used the fashion fabric for the lining.

Conclusion: This is a fun, fast and comfortable skirt to make.  This would also look great in Kaleidoscope Knit or Tomato Red Knit.
