Pattern Review Butterick 5173
I'm so happy to post this review! I have known the bride and her sister
(featured individually below) since they were little girls. The fabric for
the bridesmaid's dresses was a special order- a 100% polyester matte
jersey from Anne Klein.
Their mother, Pam, was the dressmaker for all the bridesmaid's dress and
and this is her review.

Bridesmaid dresses are always a little tricky.Combine a group of beautiful
young women, most of whom are very conscience of their body
style and weight, make them all wear the same color and fashion and
there is a strong possibility of disappointment. Not so with this
particular dress - ALL the bridesmaids looked great; even though the
sizes ranged from a 6 to a 24, some tall - some short.
We began with Butterick B5173 - a great little Maggy London dress.
It is a one piece, no waist, short sleeved - above-knee length dress.
Make sure the bust measurement is correct, the dress style is to be
fitted at the bust for a correct hang to the skirt.

We chose a medium-light weight navy knit; very easy to work with
when using a ball-point needle. We added 4 inches of length at the
hip-line to adjust the skirt length to hit just below the knee.

Light weight interfacing was used on both pieces of the front and back
tabs. the other alteration to the pattern was to slightly round the
triangular points 0n the front tab piece of the pattern.

The directions were easy to follow, the dresses made up quickly in
less than 2 hours.

Thank you, Pam, for the beautiful pictures and great review!
