Prewash: The fabric was washed at a normal cycle and dried in the dryer. I steam pressed the fabric prior to cutting.
Notions: I used a 9″ YKK invisible zipper for the side zipper, fusible knit interfacing for the facings, 1/4″ double fold bias tape to finish the facing edges and 1/4″twill tape to prevent the waist from stretching with wear.
Alterations: There were two alterations-the waist was taken in 1.5″ and the side seams were sewn at 3/8″ instead of 5/8″.
Construction Details: I omitted the belt carriers for my skirt, but may add them later. All fabric edges were finished by a 3 thread serger except for the waist. The facings were 100% cotton shirting that coordinated with the fabric. They were fused with the knit interfacing and also bound with the double fold bias tape.
The skirt is simple to make. The only tricky part is sewing the curves. Since this fabric had some stretch it was easy to do the curves.
I plan to wear the skirt with knit tops and coordinating blouses both tucked in and outside the skirt. If I sew the skirt again, I will sew all the seams with a 3/8″ seam to allow a little more wearing ease-unless I manage to lose that 5 pounds :).
Thanks, Veronica for a wonderful review. This is a great pattern and well done!!
