Prewash: Dry Clean

Notions: thread, 14″ invisible zipper (cut down to 12″), Sheer Fusible Tricot interfacing, black rayon lining, stay tape, lace trim (was $1.80 now $.90)

Alterations: This style requires a muslin for me. The difference between my full bust and high bust is 4″. After altering for a FBA, I did a quick muslin to find out how much the high bust would need to be taken in.
On the front band, I took a 1″ tuck on left and right side for a total of 2″.

On the side front I took a 1/2″ tuck for a total of 1″ and tapered to nothing. I eased the rest to fit the band and stabilized the seam with stay tape.

Constructions Details: This is a very straight forward pattern to construct. I added a few details not included in the instructions. I interfaced all of the pieces because of the fabric’s loose weave.

The camisole was looking plain so I decided to add lace to the waistline, the upper band and the shoulder straps. Using tracing paper I marked the the waistline on the interfaced side of the garment.

I thread traced the same line so I could see it on the right side.

Place the lower solid bar edge of the trim along the thread traced line. Pin it down and do a small zigzag stitch along both solid bars of the trim.

The trim for the upper band and shoulder straps were centered and stitched in the same manner as above.

The last thing I added was the lining.

Conclusion: I had large blocks of fabric left from the skirt. You know, pieces that are too large to throw away. This is a great pattern for using up leftover fabric. This type of camisole can work wonders in your wardrobe. Wear it alone or under a jacket. Try color blocking or a brocade for evening. I’m already working on another one with more leftover fabric.
