Pattern Review Vogue 2951 the skirt
Fabric: 53″
96% Cotton 4% Lycra
Was 12.00 Now 6.00
Prewash: Cold water wash; Dry on perma press cycle
There was very little (like 1/4″) shrinkage, but you will need to press the wrinkles out!
Notions: thread, 9″ invisible zipper, lining (for the waistband facing), Fusi knit interfacing, stay tape, Universal needle size 12
Alterations: I cut a size 12 for the front and a size 10 for the back and that was it!
Construction: I only have a couple of things to say about the construction because the skirt was just that easy to make. First, I did change the order of construction. The instructions would have you put the zipper in last and I don’t like that. I constructed the skirt front complete with the facing and did the same for the back. Then I sewed the sides seams, turned the facing to the inside and tacked the facings down. Second, was matching the print at the pocket. I completed the tucks on the skirt front and attached the pocket bag.
Place the skirt on the fabric matching the print.
Lay the side front pattern piece on top of the skirt and the fabric.
Line up the small dot and the notches. Remove the skirt and cut out the side front.
The side front is now a perfect match.

The finished skirt
The top is Vogue 2980 reviewed in previous entry.
Conclusion: This is a fashion forward skirt that is very easy to make. I would make this again in a tropical weight wool for fall.
