Pattern Review McCalls 5471, View A
Fabric: 59″
92% Viscose 8% Linen
Was 16.00 Now 8.00
Prewash: I washed the fabric in warm water and dried on the perma press cycle. The fabric softened and shrunk 3″ in length.
Notions: Fusi-Knit interfacing, thread, eight 1/2″ buttons
Alterations: I love this pattern! It comes with pattern pieces for B, C, or D cup so no FBA!
Construction Details: If you are comfortable sewing a classic shirt, then this pattern will be a no brainer. The one obvious detail is the lantern sleeve-a hot trend for spring.
Because the fabric softened after the prewash, I fused both sides of the collar and collar stand. The center front is folded 3 times creating its own interfacing.
Conclusion: One of the trends for spring is the lantern sleeve. This pattern has 3 variations of this trend plus 2 other pretty sleeves. Add to this 3 different cup sizes and you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck! I highly recommend this pattern.
